Congratulations to Gallatin resident Ke'Shauntez Debow who won a brand new car last week because of his good grades.

"I'm so surprised," said Ke'Shauntez, "I never win anything... not even bingo in class."

Ke'Shauntez is a sophomore at Gallatin High School. The annual contest, hosted by Newton Motor Group Nissan, is open to all students enrolled in a middle Tennessee high school. Since the program started in 2009, Newton Nissan has given away eight cars to students in the Nashville area.

The grand prize was a 2017 Nissan Versa, valued at $15,370.

"Newton Nissan pays for both the car and sales taxes, so the winning students don't have to pay anything for their new cars," said Mike Abbondanza, Newton Motor Group's vice president.

Students enter the contest by bringing in their report card from the most recent school year. Students increase their chances of winning by making good grades, since they receive one entry per "A" on their report card.
