GALLATIN - Host Gallatin High School had little trouble with visiting Station Camp as the Green Wave pelted the Bison with 12 hits in an 11-1 win.
Gallatin (4-6) broke the game open in the bottom of the third inning scoring eight runs.
Andy Denning led things off touching home plate following a Brady Harris at-bat to tie the game at one. Harris pushed the lead to 2-1 on a Bailey Russell single and Dakota Bailey scored to make the lead 3-1. Two walks and a hit batter, Gallatin found themselves in prime position with only one out. Luke Springer scored on a bases-loaded walk while Matthew Jackson came home following a Denning single to right field. DeAndre Brown, Nathan Kernell and Denning all scored to make it 8-1 Green Wave.
Gallatin tacked on three more insurance runs to force a run rule in the bottom of the fifth inning. Austin McWhirter registered his third RBI of the night knocking in Brown for the 9-1 lead. Kernell and Harris scored the game's final two runs.
Green Wave fall at Wilson Central
LEBANON - Gallatin High School had a tough time with District 9-AAA South Division foe Wilson Central last Wednesday, April 5, as the Green Wave fell 8-0, and recording just two hits in the loss.
Matt Jackson and Austin McWhirter recorded the only two hits for head coach Mark Wilson's team while the Wildcats had little trouble connecting aluminum to cork, blasting 11 hits, including one home run and two doubles.
Wilson Central added runs in innings three, four, and six as Mobley, Ford, Hamilton, Sullivan and Hudson all rounded the bases for the Wildcats.
McWhirter was charged with the loss on the bump for Gallatin. Pitching six full innings, he gave up 11 hits, eight earned runs and one home run.
Since Gallatin's loss at Wilson Central, the Green Wave defeated Hume-Fogg in back-to-back games to set up Tuesday night's clash with county rival Beech High School.
