GALLATIN - Elmer Majano's hat trick lifted Gallatin to a 5-0 win over White House Heritage in the Gallatin Classic on Friday night.
In the 11th minute, Majano scored his first goal giving the Green Wave a 1-0 lead, and one minute later Fabian Lopez added another to make it 2-0.
"What we did really well tonight that we haven't been doing is finishing," Gallatin coach Greg Harper said. "We finished a lot of good chances early and did a lot of good things offensively."
In the 27th minute, Majano took his second shot and scored his second goal of the game.
"That kid never stops, he's going 100 miles an hour all the time," said Harper.
In the 42nd minute, Cesar Juares joined the scoring party to extend the lead to 4-0 and Majano completed the hat trick in the 62nd minute.
"If you give him (Majano) a loose ball, he's going to win most of those," Harper said. "Tonight he was just in the right place at the right time."
Things weren't so bright on the Heritage end. While the Patriots were able to get the ball down field pretty often, Gallatin's defenders didn't let up through the full 40 minutes.
"These are the teams that by the end of the year we have to compete with and beat," Heritage coach Seth Kirby said. "I think it's a good milestone or marker to aim for. We should compete in our district, but we play teams like this so at the end of the year we aren't shell-shocked when we enter the district tournament and play good teams."
