HENDERSONVILLE - The rain stopped just long enough for Hendersonville and Gallatin to get in their last regular season match of the year at Drakes Creek Park. The Commandos honored their seven seniors at halftime.
Gallatin, coming in losers of five consecutive games, played spoiler to the Commando celebration as the Green Wave won, 5-4, behind Will Stephens' hat trick. Jesus Lopez found the back of the net once and provided two assists while Elmer Majano had a goal and an assist.
The Green Wave finished the regular season 7-2-2 overall and 3-2-2 in conference while the Commandos were 6-7-3 overall and 3-2-2 in league play.
Hendersonville tied the game at one in the 23rd minute of the first half when Camron O'Reilly beat Gallatin keeper Mykal Manfred.
Gallatin took a 2-1 lead before Kyle Peterson scored to tie the game at two just before the break.
Hendersonville will say goodbye to Esteban Sanchez, Noah Reeder, Ryan Von Mann, Patrick Reed, Jason Erwin, Sebastian Sanchez, and Steven Holman.
"We ask our seniors to lead by example and that is what these seven seniors have done," said Hendersonville coach Russ Plummer. "They are a really, really intelligent group of guys on the soccer field, they do a great job in the classroom and community. We are fortunate to have a great group of guys with us."
