The annual Christmas 4 Kids event concluded on Dec. 12 with a dinner and entertainment event at the Gallatin Civic Center followed up by the featured shopping spree at the Walmart Super Center in Hendersonville. Hundreds of school children and chaperones from across Sumner County and the City of Lebanon attended the event, which was coordinated by the Christmas 4 Kids organization.

Over 70 drivers donated their tour busses to provide transportation for the children and volunteers, taking them to the Gallatin Civic Center for dinner and then subsequently to the Hendersonville Walmart for a Christmas shopping session.  During the event, the children were able to visit with and have their pictures taken with a variety of special guests, including Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Nashville Sounds mascot, Booster, the Grinch and various Star Wars characters.

During the shopping event, each child received a $150 allowance that they could spend however they wished.  In addition, each child also received a free winter coat.  Several children were also the benefactors of a “Secret Santa” who purchased bicycles for them, allowing them to further stretch the value of their allowances.
