Dozens of motorcycle riders will travel across Sumner County next month raising money to help feed local hungry families.
The annual Fall Ride for Food benefitting the Sumner County Food Bank will take place Saturday, Oct. 12. Registration will take place on the square in downtown Gallatin at 9 a.m. followed by the ride at 10 a.m. The cost is $20 per bike and $10 for a second rider.
The approximately 70-mile ride through the county will end at Triple Creek Park where a barbeque lunch will be provided by Amy and Ben Harris.
“We always have a real good ride,” organizer Homer Bradley said. “The food bank is really an asset to Sumner County and I’ve tried to do something to help them and help others.”
Approximately 40 riders took part in the event last year.
Since 2011, the Fall Ride of Food has raised more than $190,000 for the Gallatin-based nonprofit which helps feed hundreds of hungry families from across the county each month.
