The Gallatin Parks Department and Chamber of Commerce hosted a groundbreaking ceremony last week for the Miracle Park at Triple Creek Park. It will be an all-inclusive facility that is accessible to all children and adults.
Miracle Park will feature three separate attractions – a wheelchair accessible baseball field, a pedal park for teaching bicycle safety and a fully-inclusive playground similar to Mary’s Magical Place in Hendersonville.
Parks Director David Brown emceed the groundbreaking ceremony and brief talks were given by several local dignitaries including Mayor Paige Brown, Councilman Jimmy Overton, Councilwoman Lynda Love, Tourism Director Barry Young, Gallatin Economic Development Director James Fenton and Gallatin Chamber President/CEO Kim Baker.
In addition, Karen West gave a special testimonial on how important an all-inclusive park will be for families of children with disabilities. West’s special-needs daughter Tabitha passed away several months ago. However, she remains a champion for fully accessible playgrounds for all children.
After the end of the formal presentations, the official groundbreaking took place with a ceremonial tossing of the dirt.
