Merrol Hyde Magnet School (MHMS) will be holding its fourth annual Hawk Rock Festival on Saturday, April 28 from 5 to 10 p.m. Hawk Rock is an outdoor concert where MHMS students, teachers, and local artists perform to raise money for the school’s DECA scholarship fund.

Every year, MHMS schedules a headliner to close out the night, and the 2018 final act is the CMA’s “Best Up and Comer” award winner, MamaDear.

DECA students are awarded need-based scholarships to the state and international competition because of this fundraiser.

Junior Kendall Frisbee said, “I am able to compete in Atlanta at the

international conference this year thanks to Hawk Rock.”

Tickets cost $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Hawk Rock t-shirts are $10, but a t-shirt/ticket combo is available for $15. VIP tickets are $25 which includes admission, a meet and greet with MamaDear, plus a Hawk Rock t-shirt. VIP tickets are limited in supply.

On the Hawk Rock social media, there will be giveaways leading up to the concert where fans are eligible to win a t-shirt or a VIP ticket. The Twitter handle and Instagram page is @mhhawkrock and Facebook is “MHMS Hawk Rock”.

“This is an important event for our DECA Club since it has funded 20 student scholarships this year,” said MHMS Principal Darren Frank. “The concert is a win-win because it features the musical talent of our students and teachers, plus it brings together the school and community, who are also invited to attend.”

Hawk Rock will provide entertainment for all ages for the entire evening. The BoJangle’s food truck and RipTide Ice will be on site, and Off Road Flowers will be selling flowers at the event, so come and enjoy the local music and great food.

There will also be face painting and a variety of games for children to enjoy at the concert. Also, since it is an outdoor concert on the MHMS campus, fans are asked to bring blanket or a chair.

MHMS is located at 128 Township Drive in Hendersonville, and the concert will be held “on the hill” by the Upper Gym.
