Bryant Holt, a graduate of Pope John Paul II High School and Vanderbilt University is pursuing his Masters of Business Administration from the University of McGill Desautels Faculty of Management in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Holt and a team of six international students from the United States, Colombia, Uganda, Brazil, India and Mexico recently had the unique opportunity to travel to Tokyo, Japan to work on a research project as part of a McGill University sponsored trip April 14 – 24.

The specific focus of this trip compared economic strategies between Japanese and North American Pension Funds.  Information gathered from this trip helped the team understand how different economic policies, cultures, and traditions affect the development of economic strategies in the United States as opposed to Japan.

One week prior to the team’s travel to Japan, Daryl Holt contacted Rick Murphy, who had coordinated a farewell reception for William (Bill) Hagerty IV in August of 2017 following his appointment as the United States Ambassador to Japan just days prior to the Ambassador and his family’s departure to Tokyo, Japan.  Daryl asked if it might be possible for the McGill University delegation to meet with the Ambassador and or members of his staff during their trip to Japan.  Immediate coordination with the Ambassador’s assistants resulted in the team meeting with the Ambassador and members of his staff on April 14.

The Ambassador’s willingness to rearrange his demanding schedule to meet with a fellow Vanderbilt graduate and the McGill University students was an opportunity they will never forget.
