The annual Shop with a Cop event was held at the Walmart Supercenter in Gallatin on Dec. 7. During the event, local children were paired with volunteers from the Gallatin Police and Fire Departments, the Sumner County Sheriff’s Department and other public safety agencies in order to conduct holiday shopping for the children and their families.
This year, each child received a $150 shopping spree to purchase gifts for themselves and their loved ones for this Christmas. For some of the young shoppers, Shop with a Cop will be their only chance to give and receive gifts this season.
Funding for the program is provided by donations and through the proceeds raised each year through the Shop with a Cop Santa Classic golf tournament held in November.
“Thanks to community support and our volunteers, we were able to take over 100 children Christmas shopping this morning,” said Gallatin Police Chief Don Bandy.
