Paula Simmons, LPN, Director of Resident Care at Morningside of Gallatin has earned the status of Certified Assisted Living Nurse. This designation is available only through the American Assisted Living Nurses Association, of which Morningside is a member. Their mission is to promote nursing practice by enhancing the competencies of the nurses working within the unique assisted living environment.
Having passed the exam in June 2019, Simmons was tested on her knowledge of the care and support related to older adults in assisted living facilities. The examination included primary care considerations including major health problems seen in the long-term care industry, organization and health policy and professional issues, such as ethics, leadership and standards of practice. This certification is effective for four years and during this time Simmons must obtain continuing education hours specific to the assisted living industry.
“This certification is an extraordinary distinction in the field of long-term care nursing,” said Stephanie Harville, Morningside of Gallatin Executive Director. “Paula has dedicated the majority of her nursing career to serving seniors, and this certification officially recognizes her expertise in the field. We are extremely proud to have Paula on our team. Her servant leadership and expertise truly make a difference in the lives of our residents.”
Simmons has been with Morningside for more than nine years and has worked as a medication nurse as well as a nurse manager with the organization.
Located on Hartsville Pike, Morningside is a 40 unit assisted living that offers premier services to seniors in a “town and country” setting.
