Healthy communities not only improve the physical health of residents, but also its overall economic sustainability. Community Health Leadership Awards, developed by the Sumner County Health Committee (SCHC), were established to recognize and acknowledge individuals, organizations, and groups that, over the past year, have made contributions to improving the health and quality of life of Sumner County residents.
This is the third anniversary for the annual award ceremony established by the SCHC. “This is an excellent opportunity to recognize individuals and groups that are committed to improving the health of the community. Their contributions often go unrecognized”; states Hal Hendricks, Health Committee member.
There is a direct correlation between the level of health within a community and the viability and economic fortune of that community. The SCHC is helping communities reach their greatest health potential by improving the environments in which residents live, learn, work, and play. The awards program celebrates a variety of individuals and organizations throughout the county. Nominees should be directly responsible for advancing the health of the Sumner County community through their actions by:
- Mobilizing individuals, resources and organizations to tackle a community health issue
- Developing new services or support to improve the health of a specific population
- Increasing the level of awareness of an important health issue in Sumner County
Candidates are nominated by their peers and other individuals throughout the community. From there, a team comprised of SCHC members will select the winning candidates. Awards will be given within the following categories:
- Government municipalities
- Lifetime achievement
The deadline for nominations is Friday, Sept. 20. To nominate a candidate, go to healthysumner.com to print off a nomination form.
