Sumner DAR members attend state workshop

Thirty members of the General Jethro Sumner Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, attended Tennessee DAR Workshops recently in Jackson, Murfreesboro, and Maryville. 

State Treasurer Sandra Long, a chapter member, conducted the Treasurer’s Workshop. The members attended sessions where they learned about the various State DAR projects to promote Patriotism, Education and Historic Preservation. 

They also attended sessions on Officer Training, Conservation, Conducting Productive Meetings, Madonna of the Trail, Women’s Issues, Supporting Veterans, the Women’s Suffrage Movement, and many more. 

Following a luncheon, chapter and state awards won at the National Continental Congress were presented.  The General Jethro Sumner Chapter and members were presented with eight awards.  To learn more about the General Jethro Sumner Chapter, contact Regent Nancy Gilley at nancygilley@gmail.com.
