A North American building materials manufacturer plans to relocate and expand its distribution center operations from Nashville to Gallatin.
Boise Cascade has purchased a 13-acre facility at 560 Airport Rd., the Idaho-based company announced last month. The property, which includes 183,000-square-feet of warehouse and office space, was previously home to Fowler Lumber Company.
“The acquisition of this new facility will allow us to expand our operations in the Nashville market, one of the strongest housing growth markets in the U.S.,” said Jeff Storm, vice president and Building Materials Distribution general manager of Eastern Operations for Boise Cascade.
Company officials say they plan to start construction and improvements at the site immediately with the goal of beginning operations at the new location in the second quarter of 2021.
Boise Cascade currently employs 44 associates at its distribution center in Nashville and expects to bring “substantially” more new jobs to Gallatin with the expansion, according to a news release.
The existing facility, which was created following the acquisition of Lumberman’s Wholesale Distributors in April 2018, will remain open during the transition.
The move will allow Boise Cascade to “more effectivity service a larger distribution footprint,” according to Nick Stokes, executive vice president of Building Materials Distribution for the company.
“The investment demonstrates our commitment to this marked with increased capacity, allowing us to expand our product offering and add depth in the product lines we carry today,” Stokes said in a prepared statement.
Founded in 1957, Boise Cascade is one of the largest producers of engineered wood products and plywood in North America. The company operates 15 mills in North America and is the only nationwide full-line wholesale distributor of building products for residential construction.
