Second suspect charged in market robbery, shooting

A second suspect has been charged in connection with the shooting of a teenage store clerk during an armed robbery at Fann’s Market in Castalian Springs in December.

Dajour Adams, 19, was indicted by a Sumner County Grand Jury earlier this month on one count of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm with the intent to go armed during a dangerous felony.

The robbery took place at the market, located at 2325 Hartsville Pike, around 7:20 p.m. on Dec. 20.

“At the time… two clerks were busy inside stocking the shelves when two masked individuals entered the store and shot one of the female clerks without warning,” according to a news release from the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office. “The second robber emptied the cash register and both suspects left in the direction of a vehicle that was parked nearby.”

The victim, 19-year-old Victoria Cook, was shot once in the arm and transported to Skyline Medical Center with non-life-threating injuries, according to police.

The suspects’ vehicle was involved in a short pursuit before it crashed in a filed near Hull Circle in Gallatin. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Joshua Gutierrez-Silva, was arrested immediately. He is charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest.

Prior to the armed robbery, Gutierrez-Silva told investigators he picked up two males on Small Street in Gallatin and drove them to Fann’s Market where he was told to wait in the car, according to an arrest affidavit.

“(Gutierrez-Silva) stated that one male had a gun,” according to the affidavit. “The defendant stated that he knew the males were going to rob the store.”

The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the case. Anyone with additional information should call (615) 442-1849.
