Cracker Barrel Old Country Store plans to bring its limited alcoholic beverages menu to Gallatin as the company expands its test program in Middle Tennessee.

A beer permit for the restaurant chain’s location at 1005 Village Green Crossing was approved by the Gallatin Beer Board on June 18.

“Well prior to the pandemic, we began testing limited beer and wine offerings in some of our Florida stores in response to strong feedback from our guests that these beverages were something they wanted,” Cracker Barrell spokesperson Janella Escobar told the Gallatin News. “The results of this test so far have been overwhelmingly positive, and so we have decided to expand the test in different markets in Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky and have taken initial steps to apply for the appropriate licenses and begin necessary training in certain locations.”

No details about when the new drink menu might be offered at the Gallatin location were provided.

In an earnings conference call last month, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store President and CEO Sandy Cochran said customers had told the company they would be more likely to eat at the restaurant if they could order an alcoholic beverage with their meal, especially on the weekends.

“As part of the limited beer and wine selection, we’re also featuring orange and strawberry mimosas, which have been quite popular,” Cochran added. “We’ve been pleased with the guest response and look forward to expanding the test.”

Founded in 1969, Cracker Barrel currently operates more than 650 stores across 45 states. The company is headquartered in Lebanon, Tenn.
