The Gallatin Police Department has earned an important re-accreditation.
The announcement was made at the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) annual summit in Covington, KY on Saturday, Nov. 16.
The CALEA certification status represents a significant professional achievement and is confirmation that the department’s practices are consistent with progressive professional standards.
CALEA assessors spent several days evaluating the department in November 2016, 2017 and 2018 with a final site visit in July 2019. They examined all aspects of the department’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services. Verification by the team is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation, a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence.
The CALEA accreditation award is for four years and the department is required to maintain continuous compliance during the award period.
