Jackson to speak at scholastic banquet

The top academic students from the Gallatin High School graduating class of 2021 will be honored on the evening of May 13 at the annual Noon Rotary-sponsored Scholastic Awards Banquet.

Pastor Derrick Jackson will be the guest speaker.

Jackson graduated Valedictorian of the Leflore County High School Class of 1988. He continued his education earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Prairie View A&M University, a Master of Business Administration degree from Keller School of Management, a Master of Theological Studies degree from Vanderbilt University, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Lipscomb University.

He currently serves as pastor of First Baptist Church of Gallatin on Winchester Street. He is also co-owner of several business establishments and serves as a part-time instructor at American Baptist College and Lipscomb University.

In addition, he is actively involved in several city and religious councils. Some of his honors include being named one of Sumner County’s Most Influential Persons, a recipient of Gallatin Citizen of the Year, and being on the cover of Reader’s Digest for his contribution to community engagement and healing.

Jackson is married to Laurie Smith-Jackson. He is father to Jeffery and Joshua Jackson and grandfather to Sanai. Gallatin High School is honored to have him speak.
