A Gallatin man has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide after police say he fatally struck a pedestrian with his SUV and fled the scene Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. at Britton Avenue and Joslin Avenue, according to a news release from the Gallatin Police Department.
The pedestrian, identified as Keith Lamonte Bell of Gallatin, was transported with serious injuries to Sumner Regional Medical Center where he later died.
The suspect’s vehicle was determined to be a white Jeep SUV, which was located nearby from the scene, according to police. The driver, identified as Dwain Mitchell Patton of Gallatin, has been arrested and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury.
No additional details have been released.
The investigation into the causation of the crash remains ongoing.
