Mama’s Kitchen continues to serves up home-cooked meals after one year of business

With negative voices telling Jim Clark he couldn’t do it, he did.

Clark joined with his friend and fellow restaurant owner and cook, Brian Baker, to team up and open a southern-style cafeteria to honor their mothers and all the good cooks in their lives.

After being open for business one-year, Mama’s Kitchen, 495 East Main Street, celebrated its ribbon-cutting Tuesday.

“Mama’s Kitchen is dedicated to all the moms,” Clark said.

The menu serves different home-cooked meals everyday. They are a meat-and-three restaurant with award-winning banana pudding.

The eatery is known for their carrots. Clark said everyone wants to know how they make the carrots so good. But he’s not giving away any of their secrets to success, he said.

“Without the support of our community Mama’s Kitchen would not be what it is today,” Clark said.

Mama’s Kitchen is open Sunday through Friday for lunch at 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for dinner from 4 to 7 p.m.

Mama’s Kitchen is vegetarian friendly—vegetables are not cooked with their meats.

“Mama’s Kitchen couldn’t ask for a better day. Had a busy day with customers and coming in to congratulate us on our one-year anniversary. It was awesome,” Clark said.
