Boy Scout Troop 407, which normally meets in Gallatin at the United Methodist Church near the Square, has had to adapt to a new way of scouting amid Covid-19.
Keeping with their scout spirit, they began meeting at the Gallatin Farmers Market where they had plenty of space to social distance along with online meetings.
Recently they held a one-of-a-kind drive-thru Court of Honor. Leaders of the troop, sporting their masks, handed out awards, ranks, and earned merit badges to their fellow scouts.
Though it was not the same type of ceremony the scouts normally conduct, they were proud to celebrate each other’s accomplishments. The scouts of the troop continued to work even during quarantine and times of social distancing.
Over the past six months, they have participated in virtual camp outs, completed community service hours, 17 ranks were earned, and as a troop, 113 merit badges were completed.
