The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a man they say stole money from a local business while an accomplice distracted the clerk earlier this month.

The theft occurred at the Rock Bridge Market, located at 2501 Highway 31E, at 11:34 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, according to Aaron Pickard, chief deputy of the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office.

“A man and a lady entered the store and appeared to shop,” Pickard said. “The clerk became distracted with the female and the male was able to enter the office (at the market).”

After stealing an undisclosed amount of money, the male suspect then left the store with the female in a black Nissan Rogue or similar black Nissan utility vehicle that was last seen heading towards Westmoreland, according to Pickard.

Anyone with information about the identity of the individuals is asked to contact the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office at 615-452-2616 or Det. Lance Hampton at 615-442-1849.
