Whataburger is moving forward with plans to open multiple restaurants across Middle Tennessee including one in Sumner County.
The popular burger chain is looking to hire a general manager for an unannounced Gallatin location, according to an online job listing posted in late October. The company is also conducting similar job searches in Hermitage, Lebanon, Madison and Murfreesboro.
When contacted by the Gallatin News, a spokesperson for Whataburger said Thursday that the company’s leadership and real estate teams were “looking at a number of locations in the Nashville area,” but declined to comment on any specific potential sites.
The San Antonio-based company announced its return to Tennessee earlier this month and has already submitted plans for a Nashville location on Old Hickory Boulevard.
Despite the recent job positing, city officials say they are unaware of any specific plans for Gallatin.
“The planning department is thrilled to work with Whataburger corporate on finding a location in Gallatin that suits their needs,” Assistant City Planner Josh King said. “At this point, we are not aware of any specific location Whataburger has selected in the Gallatin area.”
Founded in 1950, Whataburger has more than 830 restaurants across Arizona, Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The company employs more than 43,000 workers and is ranked sixth in sales among national hamburger quick-serve restaurants.
