Betty Jean Adams

Betty Jean Adams, 92, of Gallatin, TN, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 6, 2019.

Mrs. Adams was born on May 30, 1927, in Akron, CO, to the late Sebern Roy Dunbar and the late Ida May Tuel Dunbar. Betty was a 1945 graduate of Centralia Township High School in Centralia, IL. She served in various ministry capacities at each church of which she was a member. She was a longtime member of Long Hollow Baptist Church, where she was known for always remembering birthdays and anniversaries with a card.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ernest R. Adams; daughter, Cheryl Dillingham Powell; and  brother, Sebern Roy “Jack” Dunbar, Jr. She is survived by her children, Nancy Adams Herring of Macon, GA, Alan Adams (Leigh Ann) of Lafayette, TN, Philip Adams (Leanne) of Nashville, TN, and Kenny Adams (Amy) of White House, TN; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

A Life Celebration Service honoring Betty will be held on Tuesday, November 12, at 1 p.m. at Long Hollow Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN, with Roger Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in Sumner Memorial Gardens with her grandsons and great-grandsons serving as active pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
