Claire W. Lyons

Claire W. Lyons, age 77 of Gallatin, passed away March 30, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Lyons was born on April 10, 1941 in Douglas, New Brunswick, Canada to the late Oliver R. Currie and the late Edith A. Williams Currie. Born and raised in Canada, Mrs. Lyons, her husband and children moved to the United States and became citizens in 1975. She worked as a banker for many years while her husband attended college then later became a cosmetologist. Affectionately known as “Claire the Hair Lady”, she cut hair for almost all of Gallatin; she loved her work and the people she took care of at the beauty shop. Claire was honest and hard-working, she would always help anyone who needed it; she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she will be sorely missed by her family but they are comforted knowing she is reunited with Gary, the love of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Gary Lyons who passed away on February 17, 2019; a great-grandchild, Andrew McReynolds; son-in-law, Jesse Keith McReynolds; and five siblings. She is survived by her children, Deborah Carman (Harold), Denise Blumenthal (Bill), and Darin Lyons (Andrea); grandchildren, Ben Blumenthal (Taylor), Blake Blumenthal (Kim), Tyler Blumenthal, Amanda McReynolds (Chris), Garrett McReynolds (Juana), Danielle Alexander (Garrett), and Anna Lyons; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Blumenthal, Kennadie Blumenthal, Braxton Blumenthal, Bryce Catherine Blumenthal, and Amaris McReynolds; sister, Beatrice Crea; sister-in-law, Joan Currie; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 3 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Crestview Funeral Home with James Bell, Harold Carman and Travis Fleming officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sumner Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gideon’s International.
