Clay Kirby, age 86 of Lafayette, TN, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN. Funeral services for Clay Kirby were conducted on Sunday, June 16 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN with Rev. Rick Dennis and Elder Brent Hall and officiating. Interment was in the Galen Cemetery with military honors. Willie Ray, Jason Kirby, Grahm Dennis, Luke Dennis, Will Dennis, and Garrison Hughes served as pallbearers.
Silvie Clay Kirby was born on Friday, March 10, 1933 in Lafayette, TN, one of thirteen children born to the late Connie D. and Minnie (Blankenship) Kirby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Caylynn Mroczek, brothers, C. D., Cody, John, Paul, Jake, Larry and Roger Kirby, sisters, Lorraine Payne, Nancy Burdette, Linda Knyra, Evelyn English, Margie Hall and special brother/nephew, Philip Lynn Stringer. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea, as an engineer. He worked at General Motors for 30 years as a skilled tradesman.
Clay is survived by his son, Klay (Cathy) Kirby of Columbus, OH; daughters, Sylvia Hutton of Nashville, TN, Anola and husband, Rick Dennis of Kokomo, IN; beloved niece Angela (Willie) Ray of Lafayette, TN; grandchildren: Benjamin Kirby of Kokomo, IN, Joshua (Teresa) Kirby of Charlotte, NC, Grahm (Sarah) Dennis, Will Dennis, Luke Dennis, all of Kokomo, IN; six great-grandchildren; mother of children, Shirley Moore Kirby of Kokomo, IN; special sister-in-law/niece, Lorraine Stringer of Kokomo, IN; brother-in-law, Terry Hall of Goodlettsville; sister-in-law, Linda Kirby Overstreet; and a host of nieces and nephews.
