Donald Wayne Lamb, 73, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on January 12, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer.
He will be remembered by all for his steady leadership, constant service, and faith in Jesus Christ.
Don was born on May 8, 1947 in Rector, Arkansas to Donald Lamb and Dorothy Polk Lamb. After graduating from Rector High School in 1965, he began a degree in business at Arkansas State University. In 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn. After completing his degree in 1969, he was commissioned as an Army Officer at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. The majority of his career was with the United States Postal service, serving 38 years as Postmaster in Gallatin, TN.
But beyond his professional accolades, he is revered by his wife and children. He served his community, his church, and his neighbors. He modeled the Christian faith at all times. And he finished his life with dignity and respect. The stories his family is receiving about him have a common theme: “Don was one of the greatest men I ever knew…”
Don was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Thomas Lamb; his children, Jennifer (Michael) Garcia, Jill (Jason) Freeman and Mark (Courtney) Lamb; his grandchildren, Mary Carolyn Garcia, Ben Garcia, William Garcia, Emma Garcia, Lauren Freeman, Andrew Freeman, John Thomas Freeman, Elijah Lamb, Smith Lamb and Henley Lamb; and his stepfather, Ernie Chittick.
He is being honored and remembered in a private family gathering.
