Gary Dean McCarter, age 65 of the Hermitage Springs Community in Clay County, TN passed away Wednesday morning, October 14, 2020 at the St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, TN. Funeral Services for Gary Dean McCarter were conducted Saturday afternoon, October 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN with Steve Peeler officiating. Interment followed in the Browning Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were Spencer Profitt, Scottie Perdue, Tony Davis, Steve Cothron, Eric Birdwell and Robert Reid. Active Pallbearers were Kelly McCarter, Corey McCarter, Jason Anderson, Kyle Anderson, Kevin Perdue, Casey Perdue, Justin Perdue and Dalten Wix.
Gary was born April 21, 1955 in Lafayette, Tennessee, one of four siblings born to the late Willard H. & Reba Rush McCarter. On May 14, 1983, he married the former Vivian Kay Anderson who survives. Gary was a retired poultry farmer and a member of the Walton Chapel Church of Christ.
Survivors besides his wife, Vivian of 37 years includes: daughter & son-in-law, Tennie & Jonathan Carver of Red Boiling Springs; son & daughter-in-law, William “Buddy” & Shelly Head of Westmoreland; grandchildren, Thatcher Carver, Dalten Wix, Will Head and Madi Head; sister & brother-in-law, Linda & Roger Perdue; brothers & sister-in-law, Darriel McCarter all of the Hermitage Springs Community, Jerry & Janet McCarter of Smithville.
