George Kenneth Palmer

George Kenneth Palmer, of the Rocky Mound Community of Macon County, TN, passed away on June 2, 2019 at his residence, at the age of 88.  Funeral services for George Kenneth Palmer were conducted on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 2 p.m., from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Dennis Ballard officiating.  Interment was in the Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ Cemetery in Westmoreland with full military honors.  Family and friends served as pallbearers.

George Kenneth Palmer was born on Thursday, December 25, 1930, one of six children born to the late Earnest and Gladys (Sullivan) Palmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Bradford and sister, Dorothy Davidson.  He was married to the former Shirley Fuqua on December 29, 1967, who survives.

George was in the Navy for eleven years and in the Air Force for nine years, working as a Mechanic, keeping the equipment repaired, which included the planes.  He served during active duty in Korea and Vietnam, as well as, served in other countries.  He retired from the military after proudly serving his country.  He worked at Sears for 26 years in Tampa and Nashville as a Mechanic.  After retirement, George and Shirley did a lot of traveling which included every state except Hawaii.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by: son, Robert Kenneth “Kenny” Palmer of Columbus, OH, brother, “Ron” (Jenny) Palmer of Farmington Hills, MI, sisters, Kathy (Bruce) Hickerson of Waverly, TN, Ruth Mosqueda of Kingsville, TX, sister-in-law, Angie Bradford of Los Angeles, CA, and sister-in-law, Evelyn Smalling of Lafayette, TN. and a host of nieces and nephews.
