Lyman Forkum, 97, of the North Springs Community in Jackson County, TN passed away Friday morning, Feb. 7, 2020 at the Palace in Red Boiling Springs, TN.
Funeral Services for Lyman Forkum were conducted Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 11, 2020 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Tony Russell and Jerry Cherry officiating. Interment followed in the Robb Draper Memorial Cemetery. His pallbearers were: Allen Forkum, Barry Forkum, Jeff Bowman, Jesse Forkum, Eli Forkum and Nathan Joines.
Lyman was born June 22, 1922, one of three siblings born to the late Robert and Georgia Clark Forkum. On June 22, 1942, he married the former Jo Anna Painter, who preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 2018.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Steve Forkum; sister, Louise Young, and brother, James Forkum.
Lyman was the co-owner and operator of the former Forkums Dry Goods & Forkums 5 & 10 in Red Boiling Springs for many years. He was a farmer, worked for the State of TN in the sales tax division and a member of the Red Boiling Springs Church of Christ.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Richard Bowman of the North Springs Community; son and daughter-in-law, Garnett and Martha Forkum of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren, Barry Forkum, Allen Forkum, Jeff Bowman, Mardesa McDuffee and Nathan Joines; and eight great-grandchildren.
