Mr. Charles “Chuck” Edward Racine

Mr. Charles “Chuck” Edward Racine, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, December 28th, 2020. 

Chuck was born September 8, 1937 in Chicago, Il.  He was the son of the late Charles W. and Lillian Racine, was reared in Toledo, Ohio.  He graduated from Ottawa Hills High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in 1959 from DePauw university after which he completed four years active duty in the U.S. Air Force stationed in France.  After active duty, he continued to serve with the Ohio National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel.  Chuck also went on to get his law degree from the university of Toledo Law School, graduating in 1967, and worked for the former First National Bank of Toledo and then in private practice until he retired.  

Chuck was married to Yvonne Lutz of Obernai, France while stationed in Europe.  After returning to the United States, they had two sons, Charles and Marc from this union.  Yvonne passed away in 1967.  In 1970, Chuck married Joyce Clark, also a widow with two children, Steve and Lisa, and together they created a partnership and loving home for the next half century.  Chuck and Joyce celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 12th, 2020.

Over the years, Chuck was active in the American Heart Association Toledo Northwest Ohio Division, Gideons International, prison ministry, Military Officers Association of America-MOAA and Ohio & Tennessee Bar Associations.  He was committed to Jesus Christ and gave his heart to the Lord and to his church, First Baptist Church of Hendersonville where he and Joyce enjoyed volunteering and being part of the church family.  He especially enjoyed Christian counseling and Children’s Ministry. He was a godly man and true servant of the Lord.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Chuck will be remembered for his kind spirit, unfailing patience and powerful testimony and his ever-present smile. His memory will be cherished by the family and friends who loved him.  

Chuck is survived by his wife, Joyce of Gallatin, TN; sons, Charles Racine, Marc (Beth) Racine; grandchildren, Galen Racine, Kelby Potter, Mya Racine, Noah Racine and Anthony Reber; great-grandchild Emma Racine.  He is preceded in death by his son, Steve and daughter, Lisa and his parents, Charles and Lillian Racine.

Private family interment was conducted at Toledo Memorial Park in Toledo, OH.  Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28th at First Baptist Church Hendersonville.  Masks and social distancing will be required at the church.
