Tennessee junior Jake Rucker was named third-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper earlier this month.
Rucker, a 2018 Pope John Paul II High School graduate, leads the Volunteers and SEC with 18 doubles and ranks third on the team with 50 RBI.
The Greenbrier native has career highs in runs (43), hits (81), doubles (18), triples (two), home runs (seven), RBI (50), walks (24), total bases (124) and stolen bases (six) this season. Rucker was an All-SEC first-team selection at third base this year, as well.
Rucker also earned preseason All-America honors from Baseball America before the 2021 season.
DIBaseball also named Rucker as the top third baseman in college baseball this season.
You can catch Rucker in action for the University of Tennessee this weekend when the Vols take on LSU in a three-game series in the Super Regionals. The series begins Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 and then on Sunday at noon or 3 p.m. (ESPNU, ESPN2), with a third game on Monday at 4/7 p.m., if necessary.
During his senior season at JPII, Rucker was named Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Mr. Baseball Finalist, Sumner County Player of the Year, Division II-AA Player of the Year and 2018 Division II-AA All-State Team.
