Lebanon rallies past GHS 10-9

HENDERSONVILLE – Aly Dickerson’s two-out, bases loaded walk brought home Jordan Bush from third in the bottom of the seventh to hand Lebanon a dramatic 10-9 win over Gallatin in Saturday’s opening round of the District 9-AAA softball tournament at Drakes Creek Park.

The victory was the seventh in a row for Coach Jody Atwood’s squad and sends the Lady Devils into a winner’s bracket contest Monday at 5 p.m. against Beech, a 7-6 victor over Mt. Juliet in Saturday’s other opener.

Trailing 9-4 in the bottom of the sixth, Lebanon scored three runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings.

“The girls don’t have any quit,” Coach Atwood said. “In the third inning, I was wondering how we would recover after Gallatin’s big inning. The post-season is full of emotions but we scored those three runs in the sixth with key hits from Casey Fox and Alaina Knight — those were big.

“We have a never quit attitude and that says a lot about our leadership and our seniors and I’m proud of them.”

But, we have to improve our self-inflicted mistakes because those come back to bite you, as you can see.”
