HENDERSONVILLE – A new head coach may roam the sidelines for the Hendersonville Lady Commandos, but results are the same as HHS claimed yet another district regular-season soccer title Tuesday night.

The 2-0 win over Gallatin High School will give the Lady Commandos a bye in next weeks District 10-AAA tournament.

We started a little shaky, but once we settled in, I thought the girls played well and did a good job withstanding their initial pressure,” Hendersonville head coach Devin Woodard said.

Now 6-1-6 on the season and ready for the late-season run, Woodard feels confident in her team thanks in large part to navigating one of the toughest schedules in the state.

I think we are in a good spot,” she said. We played a difficult schedule, which allowed us to see our weaknesses and I think weve learned a lot; weve built on that as weve gone. This is our favorite time of the year; we are excited.”

Hendersonville grabbed an early 1-0 lead 11 minutes into the match when a Liza Sircy cross found the foot of Kendall Giles, who then set up a beautiful strike for Anabelle Procter.

Leading by one with two minutes played in the second half, Giles again found her teammate in front of the net, this time Graceann Lassiter as she buried her shot in the bottom left corner for the 2-0 advantage.

Hendersonville played harder than we did and more physical, and that was the difference in the game,” Gallatin head coach Greg Harper said. The few 50-50 balls we won we didn’t do anything. Nothing is hurt other than not winning the regular season, but as I told them, it only means something from here on out.”

The two teams will await their opponents on Tuesday night as the top two seeds earn the bye on Monday night.

Gallatin will face off against the winner of Beech and Hunters Lane while the Lady Commandos will play either Station Camp or McGavock.

The District 10-AAA Tournament will be held at Station Camp High School beginning October 12.
