GALLATIN – It’s no secret the Lady Bison want to pressure teams into turnovers with their defense and create easy buckets on the other end.

The Lady Wave were ready Friday night for their opponents’ attack and thrived, limiting their turnovers while also capitalizing on easy baskets at the rim.

Winning by 16, the Lady Wave were in control from nearly the start.

After Station Camp jumped out to a 7-2 lead, Gallatin closed the first frame on a 16-8 run and never looked back.

The Lady Wave registered 24 paint points in the first 16 minutes while also securing 10 of those points on the fast break. Gallatin committed only four turnovers in the first half and secured three offensive rebounds and added four second chance points.

Defensively, Gallatin forced Station Camp into 14 turnovers on the night and limited the Lady Bison to only two players in double figures.

“We’ve began moving the right direction,” Gallatin head coach Jerry Landers said of his defense. “We still have a lot to work on, but it was a good defensive effort tonight.”

Gallatin was forced into eight turnovers in the second half, leaving room for improvement.

“I thought at times we handled their pressure well, but we still need to be stronger with the ball and learn to step to the ball when it is thrown in our direction. You have to take care of the ball against Station Camp and at times we did that well.”

Gallatin ballooned a three point lead after one to 18 at the break, and extended their lead to as many as 24 in the second half.

The win over the Lady Bison improves Gallatin to 3-1 in league play with wins over Beech, Green Hill and Station Camp.

“I thought coming out of that four game stretch where we had Lebanon, Beech, Green Hill and Station Camp has been big for us,” Landers said. “We’ve had two huge wins this week against two teams that should be in the upper half of the district.”

Gallatin (5-3, 3-1) will travel to East Robertson and Wilson Central, and should be favorites to win both. The Lady Wave return home Dec. 21-22 for their annual Gallatin Christmas Classic against Clarksville Northeast and Rockvale.

Station Camp (4-3, 1-2) will travel to Wilson Central (Dec. 15) and Portland (Dec. 18) before playing in the Zaxby’s Christmas Classic against Rockvale and Davidson Academy Dec. 28-29.
