GALLATIN - A 55-33 run from the second quarter through the fourth quarter catapulted Gallatin to a 77-54 victory over Creek Wood at Jerry Vradenburg Gymnasium Thursday night.

Gallatin lit the net on fire from three-point range Thursday night, connecting on 15 made 3-pointers. They also added 24 points in the paint and forced Creek Wood into 10 turnovers.

The fast-paced, live-and-die by the 3-pointer offense is one teams are expected to see when they face Gallatin this season.

Thats our strength,” Gallatin head coach Bobby Luna said of the fast pace. We are fairly skilled, not big, but this group of seniors is reaping the benefits of playing so much as sophomores. They continue to progress and work.”

Gallatin led Creek Wood 18-10 after the first frame, but a 5-1 run from the Red Hawks cut their deficit to four just two minutes into the second frame.

However, Gallatin put their foot on the gas and extended their advantage to 44-24 by halftime.

Its been a long offseason, so it was nice to get in the gym and play,” Luna said. Our kids played hard, did what we wanted to do and had fun. We have mistakes to clean up but tonight is what we like to be.”

Cade Martin and Ty Martin led the Wave with 19 and 17 points, respectively, as Ty connected on five 3-pointers and Cade led with 11 second half points.

The guys who have experience look like experienced players tonight,” Luna said. Our kids enjoy this style of position-less basketball. When you dont know who will be here tomorrow, you better be able to play multiple positions.”

Gallatin led by 21 at the end of three quarters, 58-37, and extended their lead in the fourth quarter when Luna decided to clear his bench.

We have guys that can push us,” Luna said. In a year like this, you need depth, so I was happy to see those guys in the fourth quarter play well.”

Gallatin is back in action Saturday, Nov. 21, at home in the Green Wave Hall of Champions Classic. Gallatin will play Oakland at 10:30 a.m. and Clarksville Northwest at 4:30 p.m.

We are praying we get the opportunity to keep playing,” Luna said. This first month is about having an idea of who you want to be this season.”
