Following a 9-1 regular season, the Gallatin Green Wave enter the 2019 TSSAA Class 5A Playoffs as the number two seed out of Region 6.

The Green Wave will play at the Wave Yard Friday night against Summit (8-2), the number three seed out of Region 5.

This quadrant is very difficult to manage, but if the Green Wave can somehow navigate through to the semifinal round and give themselves a chance at Cookeville, they will without-a-doubt have earned it.

If the Green Wave win Friday night against the Spartans, they will most likely play the number one seed out of Region 5, the Page Patriots.

The Patriots (9-1) take on Hunters Lane (3-7) in round one, and I think it’s is safe to assume the Patriots will come out victorious, but hey, you never know what will happen.

Assuming the Patriots win, Gallatin would then travel to Page for round two on November 15 for the second round.

If the Wave manage to win that game, they will face-off against either Beech, Hillsboro or Shelbyville in the quarterfinals on Nov. 22.

Hillsboro will play Shelbyville in round one, so one of those two teams will not make it to the quarterfinals.

In the other matchup, Beech takes on Columbia in round one. I think Beech wins that game and moves on to the second round to take on either the Burros or Golden Eagles at Shackle Island Stadium.

If both Beech and Gallatin make it to the quarterfinal round, the game will be played at Beech with the semifinals on the line.

Whoever makes it out of that game will most likely play Henry County at home.

Other candidates to come out of that bracket are Munford or Kirby, with Kirby the most likely of the two.

I believe it will be Henry County that represents that side of the bracket.

If Gallatin wins the semifinals and advances to Cookeville, they will play a team out of East side of the bracket, most likely Knoxville Central, Knoxville Halls, Powell, or Rhea Co.

There are a lot of different scenarios that can play out, but my prediction is:

Gallatin vs. Beech in the quarterfinal round, whoever wins that game versus Henry County in the semis, and then that winner will play Knoxville Central for the Class 5A Championship.
