The Station Camp Lady Bison are vying for the Class AAA sub state round for the fourth year in-a-row in 2019.

This year may be the toughest, however.

Second year head coach Jeremy Cooke has just five seniors and three juniors on his roster so depending on underclassmen will be major key to the success of the 2019 team.

“From last year to this year is a completely different team, a completely different look,” Cooke said of his squad. We will depend on a lot of freshman and sophomores in our lineup; there is no doubt about that. The plan right now is to clog the midfield and back lines with seniors and surround them with young pieces.”

Despite a team full of youth, expectations are still high on the East bank.

“Our first goal is to win the district regular season and then take it from there,” Cooke added. “Long term is to make it to the sectional game and give ourselves a chance at state. State is obviously the goal and the regional championship.”

In order for the Lady Bison to achieve their goals, the regular season is all about developing talent and growing together as a team.

“Develop is the key word for us,” Cooke added. “We have the talent to win a lot of games but we just need to continue to develop them, get better, and get more comfortable with one another. We can absolutely achieve our goals this season.”

Jason Taylor will join Cooke on the sidelines this year following Kris Koumiss’ decision to step down and follow his daughter, Katie, and her college career at Carson Newman University.

“Jason and I have known each other for a while – I knew him when he was a player at Belmont,” Cooke said. “He was great player there and I know he will add a lot of great things to our team. He knows the game and he just so happened to reach out while his kid and my future step-son were playing and asked if I needed a hand this season. We are on the same page with a lot of things so I think it will be a smooth transition.”

Station Camp will kick off their preseason at home against White House Heritage on August 6.
